Why all the fighting? Soulition is to buy back all leases and buldoze all the houses not in historic district down. If its a state park lets not have private dwellings on the island..MAKE IT A STATE PARK AGAIN. |

Reply with quote | #3 | I would not be too sure about that. The houses over their are 50 to 60 years old. Remember they want to build multi million dollar homes over their since they are going to build these expensive Condos or else they will have a middle class slum on the island with all these old homes. So look out Jekyll residents, there is always a wolf waiting in the dark when the good ole boys start their wheels to grinding. They try to grind up anyone or anything in their way. Which in this instance is the old homes on Jekyll. They are not going to spend over 300 million plus just to leave slum houses over their. Of Course they do have slum houses on Sea Island though don't they. laugh. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Billm here we disagree. The people that live on Jekyll actually help keep the place safer. How can I say this. I lived over there in the 70's and 80's. I know a lot has changed but those people are the only reason that place still looks pristine.
If they want to upgrade the Hotels thats ok, just don't make all off them so expensive that only Sea Island people can afford them. If they would clean the rooms up update the paint toilets tvs etc. Charge about $85.00 per night with some good bands good DJ's a little nightlife. There would be a waiting list to get a room. Mind me you could still have high dollar rooms but But the majority of them should be reasonably priced.
The people that live there call the police when problems or even strange looking things go on. That makes the whole Island safer because people know nothing illegal will be tolerated.
One more thing open the beach accesses back up.and that soccer field should be a parking lot with picnic tables shade trees, in other words people friendly.
